Flameables Campfire Safety

At Flameables.com we know how important campfire safety is. Injuries can be avoided, as well as wildfires, if common sense and the following steps are taken when partaking in campfire activities:
  • Never leave a campfire unattended.
  • Never leave children unattended near a campfire.
  • Always clear at least a 10 foot area around the campfire.
  • Use a fire ring, or build a fire ring using large rocks to contain the fire.
  • Never use flammable liquids such as kerosene or gasoline to start your fires.
  • Burn only untreated, unpainted, dry wood.
  • Keep a water source and shovel close by for unruly fires.
  • Check local open fire permit requirements and fire conditions in the area.
  • Postpone your fire when the wind exceeds 10 mph.
  • Thoroughly extinguish your campfire before moving on.
  • Call 911 to report illegal or unsafe fires.

It is import to recognize the different city, county and state ordinances that are in place for your area. Check the local websites for the specific laws that affect you.
